The modernized posse concept is utilized by sheriff’s offices for search and rescue operations along with providing security at public events. In a partnership between the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Benton-Franklin Sheriff Posse Unit was established in 2022. The Benton-Franklin Sheriff Posse currently has 47 volunteers.
Posse volunteers routinely have meetings and participate in trainings so they may be utilized for our marine patrols, ORV patrols, parades, crime scene security, search and rescue operations, and rural neighborhood patrols.
